NFS Carbon Online

NFS Carbon Online FAQ

Quick answers about playing Need for Speed: Carbon online in your browser.

Can you still play NFS Carbon online?

Yes. The official servers are closed, but NFS Carbon Online runs its own server in their place. The game's own Custom Match races, EA Messenger and invites work again, in the browser. How to play online.

Which online modes work?

All of Custom Match: Sprint, Circuit, Speedtrap, Canyon Duel, Pursuit Tag and Pursuit Knockout, with up to 8 players a race.

How do I play with a friend?

Both switch on Play online on the home page.

Where is the friends list?

In the game's own EA Messenger: choose Custom Match, then press M. Friends lists are kept on the server, so they are there next time you play.

What do I need to play?

A desktop or laptop computer with a recent Chrome or Edge, which support WebGPU, and a keyboard or a controller.

Can I use a controller?

Yes. PS5, PS4 and Xbox controllers work in races and in the game's menus: press any button once the game shows. On a PlayStation controller the touchpad opens the settings menu, which you can move through with the controller too. Change buttons in the game under Options → Controls. A PS5 controller does not vibrate in the browser; PS4 and Xbox controllers do.

Do I need an EA account?

No. You sign in automatically with the name you chose on the home page. The first browser to use a name keeps it, and a name nobody uses for 30 days becomes free again.

Are my saves kept?

Your saves stay in your browser on this computer. The Saves panel on the home page can make a backup file, or keep a cloud save sealed with a keyphrase only you know.

Are there leaderboards?

Not yet. The game's Leaderboard and Player Stats screens are not built, so every room is unranked.

Something went wrong. How do I report it?

Press F9 in the game and choose Send report. It shows you exactly what it sends before anything leaves your computer.

Is this official?

No. NFS Carbon Online is a fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Electronic Arts.
